This week has provided many opportunities for me develop in Christ-likeness. I had a few unexpected events at work, which caused me to work a half-day (even though I was scheduled as off). A few people upset me a bit, my cell phone started to deteriorate, and the home computer went on the blink. In retrospect, all of these things were pretty petty, but at the time, they placed a heavy demand on my attention. Today, however—it’s time to get higher, high above these temporal events, until the Place where time fades away…

Today, I had an amazing conversation with a good friend in the Lord. Our discussion covered a few broad topics that I may comment on later, but for now, here is a snippet of one of my responses in the dialog. Continue reading ‘The Periphery’
Today, I’ve been meditating a little on waiting before the Lord. I’ve recently been thinking about how my time is spent during the day—”how much time I’m “busy” with the worries of this life as opposed to engaging with God”—and I see that I often miss the opportunity to learn during the mundane times. From a broader perspective, it seems that my lessons have all been minor events of one big training ground, and I’ve been circling around the same hurdles for some time.

Lately, I’ve been studying the first chapter of Daniel. What strikes me is how God gave so much wisdom to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah that they excelled even the Babylonians!
Recently, I began reading The Blueprint by Jaeson Ma, and came across a chapter about waiting on God in [silent] prayer. This chapter struck me, because a dear friend and mentor in the Lord told me at the beginning of the summer that it’d be important for me to slow down and wait before the Lord for a season. Then, checking my email today, I received two forwarded messages1 confirming the need to be still.

One thing that’s been on my heart lately concerns the role of African-Americans in the plans of God for this present era. I’ve heard many prophetic voices speaking of the mass deliverance and revival that’s coming. Yet I feel that there is definitely an ideology that must be shaken off first: black pride.

Last week, thousands gathered at LP Field in Nashville, TN for TheCall, 12 hours of fasting and praying to God in repentance of the last forty years of sexual immorality and abortion in America. The atmosphere was charged with the Spirit of the Lord, and grace was released to reverse the moral decay of our land. It was truly awesome. I believe this has been a tremendous signpost for my life’s journey.

At times I’ve wondered how things work out in their times and seasons so perfectly. God just orchestrates our events with such precision and elegance—I am oft times in awe. Today, I’ve been doing a little reading on 37signals.com, and I’ve begun to have a revelation about how the Lord has equipped me for this hour.
So now that I have my laptop, I’ll be getting back into media production. I actually have a couple of projects going on right now that I had to put on hold; I’m glad that I can resume. In particular, I plan to put some real time and energy into web design again (aiming for Web 2.0 or better). I think Rapid Weaver is just the tool to launch me forward.
