The Rutledge Factor

I’ve spent the last few days absorbing much from the writings of Andy Rutledge. His expertise in web design has convinced me ever more of the need to redo this site! There is much I can improve, but my first step is to begin with discovery. I’ll post more on this later. Suffice it to say, today is an important first step towards professional web design.

Lessons From the Tortoise

Slow and steady wins the race. Oft times to my detriment, I forget this adage in my daily interactions. This is the lesson I’ve been learning for the past four months now. It’s taken me a while to realize that I won’t just arrive. To go to the places that God has ordained for me, I must take one step at a time.

Hiatus Update

Just a quick update…I’m still working on my site redesign. I’ve been pretty busy finishing my undergraduate studies (thank God I’m graduating in a week), but I should have the new content and visuals prepared by New Year’s Day (hopefully). I’ve decided to turn this into my personal blog about design, media, and technology with a video podcast on graphic design. Most likely I won’t be rolling everything out at once. I first will focus on the design topics and add other things as I have the time. Until then…

Hiatus

After a long (and unanticipated) hiatus, I’m back just to say that I’m in the process of redesign the site from ground up, both content- and layout-wise. I haven’t had as much time to keep things going as I would have liked. Also, I have several topics I would like to write about eventually. With that said, I’ll be back a short time!

Refashioned

Seasons are a fact of life. Most recently, this has been apparent as I prepare to transition out of college and into the workplace. Yesterday at church, my pastor spoke from Jeremiah 18, but the Lord impressed in my heart that just as with this clay, He has the power reshape my purpose and mission as He pleases. In this season of my life, I am being refashioned with new purpose. Not only I, but I believe God is reshaping the destiny of many across the nation.

Mount, Part 1

This week has provided many opportunities for me develop in Christ-likeness. I had a few unexpected events at work, which caused me to work a half-day (even though I was scheduled as off). A few people upset me a bit, my cell phone started to deteriorate, and the home computer went on the blink. In retrospect, all of these things were pretty petty, but at the time, they placed a heavy demand on my attention. Today, however—it’s time to get higher, high above these temporal events, until the Place where time fades away…

TheCall: One Week Later

Last week, thousands gathered at LP Field in Nashville, TN for TheCall, 12 hours of fasting and praying to God in repentance of the last forty years of sexual immorality and abortion in America. The atmosphere was charged with the Spirit of the Lord, and grace was released to reverse the moral decay of our land. It was truly awesome. I believe this has been a tremendous signpost for my life’s journey.

Why Study the Media?

As I alluded to on the first page, media today has become an integral part of our daily lives. In this modern era, we have access to an overwhelming about of information. The media are effective channels for relaying and interpreting this info. However, as the First Amendment of the United States guarantees the freedom of communication (through religion, free speech, the press, or assemblies), it is important for us to critically consider this enormity of knowledge abounding in our society.

There Are Reasons

In November of last year, I began Artisonian. Since that time, I’ve learned a lot about administering a website—particularly how much time it requires. Taking a break each week to post new content becomes consuming very quickly, especially when the material has not been prepared adequately. Thus, after the first two months, I found myself unable to maintain my initial plans for Artisonian. My ideas had run out. With limited hours per week, I was unable to contribute thoughtful articles continuously. Recently, I received some extremely valuable feedback and realized I needed to revise my strategy. It was time for Artisonian to change.
