Natural
Blogging is so much easier when I speak as myself. Since my last blog post, I’d attempted to assimilate style from my favorite bloggers, but now realize this is futile. My style is my own. I cannot produce consistent writing with someone’s diction, metaphors, or references. It is unfair both to myself and to you for me not to write in a natural manner. Today I commit to writing with my personality (albeit heeding the wisdom of The Elements of Style).
Amelioration
It’d be foolish not to learn from my past experiences, and it’d be more foolish not to improve as a result. Between graduating and accepting a full-time position at Georgia Tech, I tried a bit of freelancing. It was my first time involved with contract work, and I learned it is much more difficult than I imagined. However, I did gain valuable insights, but nearly wrecked my future in freelancing. Here are a few of the lessons I’ve learned.

Genesis
Today begins a new chapter in blogging for me. I’m transitioning from 2 years of self-hosting to a WordPress.com hosted blog. It was a hard decision to make; I’m quite used to having total freedom for themes and plugins. Yet I do believe these new constraints will help me focus on what’s truly essential: quality content.
